Catherine Anderson

April 13, 1948 — January 17, 2025

Catherine Anderson was born on April 13, 1948, in Valdosta, Georgia to the late Robert L. Lane and Janie Ruth Horn-Anderson. Later, she lived in Boston, Georgia with her maternal parents, David and Pearlie Crockrell.

She was a treasure to her family, enjoying a life full of love and laughter until transitioning to her Heavenly Home on Friday, January 17, 2025.

Catherine attended North Boston Elementary School and is a graduate of the Magnolia High School Class of 1968. She always displayed a true "Buccaneer Spirit" and her presence was often evident, showing great pride among her classmates.

At an early age, Catherine Anderson was baptized at Richland Missionary Baptist Church. She loved God and her church, actively serving in the Richland Gospel Choir and Sunday School for several years. Catherine enjoyed attending various activities where God's word and His people were gathered. Noted for participating regularly in the North Bound Union and Thomasville Missionary Baptist Association, she often was seen with a delicious, covered dish, prepared before her arrival.

After completing school, Catherine worked diligently throughout her life, in the Thomasville community, including positions held at Modern Cleaners, Roses Department Store, and she also became a devoted homecare provider, during her employment tenure. Her passion for helping others was widely appreciated by many.

Catherine Anderson was a longtime member of the Aucilla Order of the Eastern Star Chapter #1 of Thomasville, Georgia and her contributions will be forever remembered by those who were blessed to know Catherine.

In 2015, Catherine Anderson received Special Congressional Recognition for outstanding achievement, service, and public distinction from Congressman Sanford D. Bishop, Jr. It was proudly displayed in her home and one of her prized possessions.

She leaves to cherish her memories, her brothers: Rev. Andrew (Doris) Anderson, Tallahassee, Florida; McEvery Anderson, Valdosta, Georgia; nieces: Janet (Keith) Anderson, Landover, Maryland; Lazonya Berrian,Valdosta, Georgia; Ansonya (Edward) Christian, Lake Park, Georgia; Patrice (Britt) Anderson, Sanford, Florida; Renee Vernice, Upper Marlboro, Maryland; nephews: Marvin (Sandy) Anderson, Central Square, New York; Eric Anderson, Upper Marlboro, Maryland; Vitas (Chanell) Berrian, Douglasville, Georgia; Elgin (Megan) Anderson, Pflugerville, Texas; David (Erika) Watkins, Coral Springs, Florida; sister-In-Law: Valerie Anderson, Clermont, Florida and a host of grand nieces, nephews, family, and friends.

Catherine was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Leon Anderson, Robert Lewis Anderson, James Edward Anderson, and sister Evelyn Berrian.
