Born on June 8, 2021, at 9:44 a.m. at Phoebe Memorial Hospital, he entered this world just five minutes before his fraternal twin brother. From the very beginning, he faced obstacles that would have challenged even the strongest among us. Yet he quickly proved himself to be a fighter. Through every challenge, he showed resilience, strength, and a spirit that could not be broken.

As he grew, his personality blossomed into something truly special. Though he was nonverbal, he never needed words to express the love and joy he carried within him. His smile stretched from ear to ear, and his bright spirit had a way of lighting up every room he entered. He was bubbly, welcoming, and full of happiness regardless of the circumstances around him.

He developed a love for music, often finding comfort and excitement in every rhythm and melody. He loved water and the happiness it brought him. Cars quickly became one of his greatest passions, and his favorite thing to do was race. Whether he was playing, exploring, or simply enjoying the things he loved most, he embraced life with enthusiasm and wonder.

His autism was part of his journey, but it never defined the depth of his heart. He communicated in ways that went beyond words, teaching those around him that love can be felt, seen, and shared without ever being spoken. Through his laughter, his expressions, his presence, and his unique way of connecting with others, he left a lasting impact on everyone fortunate enough to know him.

Though his time here was far too short, his life was filled with meaning. He taught his family patience, strength, unconditional love, and the importance of celebrating every moment. He reminded us to find joy in the simple things and to cherish each day we are given.

He leaves behind a family who will forever carry his memory in their hearts. He is survived by his beloved twin brother, Cayson Douglas Atkinson; his mother, Sierra Douglas; and his father, Christopher Atkinson.

He was preceded in death by his Grandparents, Deborah Atkinson, Seconia Douglas, and David Perez Walker (Crystal).

Carter is survived by his great-grandmother, Jeanette Walker, and his grandfather, Curtis Atkinson. His memory will continue to live on through his loving aunts and uncles: SeKierra Wimberly (Greg Jr.), Endia Douglas-Hampton (Jodee), Tameshia Singleton, Alexis Carter, Brittany McNeal, Nicholas Walker (Melissa) Brandon Walker, Truvine Walker, Josephus Douglas, Jr. and Shawn Douglas.

While our hearts ache in his absence, we find comfort in knowing that the love he gave remains with us. We will remember his smile, his laughter, his determination, and the joy he found in music, water, and racing. We will remember the lessons he taught us without ever speaking a word.

Though we must say goodbye for now, his story does not end here. He lives on in every cherished memory, every smile he inspired, and every heart he touched.
