Carol Deneise Smart Cone was born on January 17, 1956, to the late Mrs. Emma Ree Simmons Smart and Mr. I. T. Smart in Bainbridge, Decatur County Georgia. She was the third of eight children.
She departed this life to eternal rest on Thursday, August 6, at Archbold Memorial Hospital with her children at her bedside.
She received her education in the public schools of Decatur County Georgia, including Mt. Moriah elementary, Hutto Junior High and graduated from Bainbridge High School with the class of 1973.
She went on to further her education at Thomas Technical Institute, Thomasville, Ga, where she received a degree in Secretarial Science in 1975. She was employed by Georgia Pines MH/DD/AD for more than 33 years as secretary of the SED department. She was an avid seamstress and could sew anything from scratch. She was also one of the best country cooks ever.
She confessed to Christ at an early age and joined St. Mary AME Church, Climax, Ga, under the leadership of Rev. W. F. Griffin. She later moved to Thomasville, Ga and met and married the love of her life, James A. Cone, Jr. Unto this union; two children were born Alesia Deneise and Jamie Bernard Cone. She then continued to follow the teachings of God and joined Clifford Temple CME Church, serving as secretary and choir member.
She was preceded in death by her parents Mr. I. T. Smart and Mrs. Emma Ree Smart Knight, and her brother Vincent M. Smart.
She leaves to cherish her memories her two loving children Alesia Deneise Cone and Jamie Bernard Cone ( Virginia), 5 grandchildren, Jamie Cone, Jr., Jasmine Cone, Da’ Sandnikqua McMillian, David Peterson (PJ), and Kaiden Cone, and 2 great- grand Nova McMillian and Jamari Wadley, 4 sisters Mattie Glover, Fayetteville, NC, Mamie Griffin, Annie Smart, and Allesaundria Knight, all of Bainbridge, Ga., two brothers Edward Knight, Bainbridge, Ga., and Larry Smart, Las Vegas, NV, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Earth has no sorrow that heaven cannot heal.
