Betty Givens

Betty Givens, born on October 16, 1942, in Brooks Co, GA to the late Irene and Lonnie Givens, passed away on November 16, 2025. She was a cherished member of her community and a beloved figure among family, friends, and neighbors.

Betty attended Washington High School in Quitman, GA, and furthered her education at Valdosta State University and Thomas Technical College. Throughout her life, she was dedicated to her church, serving as a member and secretary of Mount Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church.

Betty had a passion for reading and enjoyed giving her time to serve her community. Her warm spirit and kindness left a lasting impact on those who knew her, and she will be remembered fondly by all.

She leaves to cherish her memories three nieces: Emma Wright (Richard) of Fort Lauderdale, FL; Shirley Butter (Eddie) of Southfield, MI; and Tracy Powell of Salisbury, MD. Victoria Powell was also like a niece to Betty. She had a special group of friends who held a significant place in her heart, including Lenzie Adams, Jr., Barbara Adams, Shani Williams, Sylvia Foster, Kim Burkes, Maggie Daniels, and Diane Jones. Additionally, she is survived by a host of cousins and loving friends.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Irene and Lonnie Givens; her brothers, L.V. Powell and Ernest Powell; as well as her aunts, Ms. Nadine Brown, Jannie Givens, Martha B. Lamons; and her Uncle, Jimmy Lee Allen.
