Bertram Minto

March 19, 1936 — August 26, 2024

Bertram Loyd Minto was born on March 19, 1936 in Brown's Town of St. Ann Parrish, Jamaica to the late Daisy Pritchard Minto and Hurbert Minto.

Bertram Minto left his homeland of Jamaica at a very early age. After leaving Jamaica, he made Delray Beach, FL, his new home where he met and married Elousie Bryant Minto. Their union was blessed with one child: Sherice Minto. After spending many years in Florida, the family moved to Boston, Georgia, where Bertram was a much sought-after and busy carpenter. He was the best dad, uncle, granddaddy, brother, carpenter, cane cutter, seamstress, cook, yardman, mechanic, and a host of other titles. He was never bashful about telling you how many jobs he could do and how good he was at doing them! He loved to share his knowledge with all of his friends and family. He would go from teaching you how to cook an authentic Jamaican meal to how to change a tire in a matter of minutes! His best past time in his latter years was riding around the big cities of Boston, GA and Monticello, FL with his granddaughter Dianne once every single week pointing out ALL of the houses he either built from the ground or renovated.

As the sun was rising on the morning of August 26, 2024, the Lord called him home after a courageous battle.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Hurbert and Daisy Minto; his loving wife, Elouise Bryant Minto; his daughters, Sherice Minto and Curtistine Blenman; his sons, Larry Jackson and Roosevelt "Pep" Symore; his brothers, Fred Minto and Jean Minto; his sisters, Ina Kitty Minto and Joy Minto.

He leaves to cherish his memories: four brothers, Buntine Minto, Roy Minto, Horace Minto, and Paul Minto; five sisters: Joycie Minto, Primrose Minto, Madge Minto, Peggy Jean Minto and Daphne Minto; one brother-in-Law, Wesley Bryant (Anette) and two sisters-in-law, Louise Bryant and Carolyn Bryant Hunter. Bertram was also surrounded by love by his bonus children: Roger Jackson and Elaine Jackson of Boston, GA, Lenorris Jackson( Juliette) and Ronnie Lee Jackson (Louise) of Thomasville, GA and Matthew Jackson (Cheryl) of Deerfield Beach, FL; two friends that he absolutely loved: Elwin and Barbara Smith of Boston, GA.

There are a host of grand children, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and extended family and friends who will miss his smile his affectionate giggle and his beautiful personality.
