It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Bernard Lovejoy, Sr. who departed this life on January 11, 2025. Bernard was born on August 15, 1962 to Mrs. Lucille Lovejoy-Burke, a loving mother who nurtured him into a man of faith, music, and kindness.
Bernard grew up in Thomas County, where he attended and graduated from Thomas County Central High School as part of the Class of 1980. From an early age, Bernard displayed a remarkable talent and passion for music, with a special affection for playing the Tuba. His melodies brought joy and inspiration to all who had the privilege of hearing him play.
A man of deep faith, Bernard joined Union Hill Missionary Baptist Church in his youth under the leadership of Reverend Hughes. His commitment to his church and his community was unwavering, and he was a faithful servant of God throughout his life.
Bernard's memory will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who were touched by his kindness and musical spirit. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Mr. Claude Lovejoy and Susie Lovejoy; brothers, Larry Lovejoy and Henry Burke. He leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion.
Bernard is survived by his mother, Lucille Lovejoy-Burke Thomasville, GA; wife, Linda Drew-Lovejoy, Thomasville, GA; two sons, Brandon Lovejoy and Bernard Lovejoy, Jr.; one daughter, Kimberly Drew all of Thomasville, GA; three sisters, Elizabeth Burke, Phyllis Burke, Barbara Burke all of Thomasville, GA; eleven grandchildren; five nephews; three nieces; three aunts, Johnnie Lovejoy, New Jersey, Mary Cochran, Thomasville, GA, Daisy Redding, Hampton, GA; one uncle, Jimmy Lovejoy, Brooklyn, NY; two sisters in law, mentor, Retired Sheriff Carlton Powell; close friend, Frank Sadler and a host of relatives and close neighbors.
May his soul rest in eternal peace, and may his music echo forever in our hearts.
