Apostle Jimmy Smith Sr. was born November 7, 1958 in Pavo, Georgia to the late Joseph and Lillie Mae Smith.
He attended Thomas County Central High School in Thomasville, Georgia. He worked at Kenmore Company in Atlanta, Georgia until he retired due to a decline in his health. He departed this life on October 21, 2024 at Archbold Hospital after a lengthy illness.
Preceding him in death is his father, Joseph Smith; mother, Lillie Mae Smith; brothers, Charles Smith, Chester Smith, sister, Debbie Smith Lurry, and sister in law, Emma Smith and brothers in law, Albert Lewis and Herman Jemison
He leaves to mourn in his passing, Annie L. Smith, the mother of his five children; daughter, Annie Smith of Tallahassee, Florida, Tarvaris Smith (Rebecca) of Atlanta, Georgia, Vandell Smith (Shatari) Atlanta, Georgia, Keith Smith (Jaimie) of Atlanta, Georgia, Jimmy Smith, Jr. of Tallahassee, Florida and thirteen grandchildren.
He also leaves to mourn in passing, three generations, sister, Gwendolyn Thomas (Walter) Camilla, Georgia, brother, Larry Smith of Quitman, Georgia, sister, Joanne Samuel (Freddie Jr.) of Warner Robins, Georgia, and brother, Travis Smith of Wrightsville, Georgia; four aunts, Lorene Spencer of Moultrie, Georgia, Annie B. Brooks (Willie Freeman) of Thomasville, Georgia, Catherine Lewis of Thomasville, Georgia, and Lorene Jemison of Buffalo New York and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
