Andrew Hamilton

April 22, 1938 — July 25, 2022

Andrew Nelson Hamilton, fondly known to his family as "Bill," was born on April 22, 1938, to the (deceased) Willie Nelson and Olivia Elizabeth Lou Hamilton in Cocoa, Florida. He was the fourth child of the twelve sibling that was raised in his family.

The Lord called Andrew home on Monday evening, July 25, 2022. Andrew had been sick for the last year with various health problems. He tried to keep going, but his body just wouldn't hold out any longer. He had done what the Lord had called him to do on earth, it was time for him to take his heavenly flight.

Andrew was raised in a Christian home and attended Mount Zion African Methodist Episcopal Church where his Grandmother Bessie T. Strickland, his mother Olivia Hamilton and his aunt Pauline William were the founding members which has become the family home church in Zellwood, Florida.

Andrew was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Jack and Berry; six sisters; Kay, Helen, Vivian, Willie Bessie Barnes, Jerusha Lee Collins, and Jessie Bell Hamilton.

Andrew asked the Lord to save his soul at the young age of 12 years old. Even though it took some years to totally surrender his will and life to the Lord, Andrew dedicated the remainder of his life serving the Call and from that time forward he became Evangelist Andrew Hamilton. On November 10, 1982, he was Ordained by his brother, Glendy Hamilton as Evangelist and Church Planter.

On December 23, 1989, he married the love of his life, Bessie Kelly, where they have been married for over thirty-three years.

Andrew Hamilton leaves to cherish his memories; his wife, Bessie, five daughters, Valerie Curgil, Orlando, FL, Andrea Boone (Herman), Orlando, FL, Angie Nash (Leon), Fayetteville, NC, Donna Washington, Tallahassee, FL, Diane Rora (Ronald), Atlanta, GA, two sons, Curtis Bernard Hamilton, Florida and Timothy (Peanut) Washington, Atlanta, GA. Three brothers; James Walter Hamilton, Mount Dora, FL, Willie Nelson Hamilton (Pauline), Quincy, FL, Pastor Glendy Eugene Hamilton, Orlando, FL; special friends, Pastor Ezekiel Dukes, Sister Ineshea Grant and Sister Ieashea Bryant.

He also leaves to cherish his memory; 6 grandchildren, 17 great- grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren.

In 1982, Evangelist Andrew Hamilton planted his first church, Grace Baptist Church in Madison Virginia and in 1991 Pastor Sterling Young took the church over.

May 1991, Evangelist Andrew Hamilton and his wife Bessie move to Thomasville, Georgia. They started knocking on doors and leading people to the Lord. Berean Baptist Church held its first church service on May 15, 1991, in the Fellowship Hall at Faith Baptist Church on the Pavo Road.

On June 15, 1992, the church held its first service in the former Bruce Jones Auto Building, located at Monroe and Steven Street. Sixteen members who had been meeting every Sunday at Faith Baptist Church Fellowship Hall on Pavo Rd. Pastor William Green from Quincy Florida spoke at our first service.

On March 06, 1997, Berean Baptist Church moved to 1311 W. Jackson Street. Through hard work, dedication, prayers, Berean Baptist Church was able to purchase its now location of 1303 W. Jackson Street and on April 15, 2000, Berean Baptist Church under the leadership of Evangelist Andrew Hamilton now had a permanent home.

June 2013 a church stood empty in Moultrie, Georgia, Evangelist Andrew was called upon to plant that church, Mount Calvary Baptist Church. The Lord directed Brother Andrew to Pastor Orville Blake, who would take over the leadership. On August 24, 2014, Orville Blake became the permanent Pastor of Mount Calvary Baptist of Moultrie, Georgia. For over thirty-one years, Evangelist Andrew Hamilton has labored in God's vineyard. Spreading the Good News of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, telling people they must be Saved to get to Heaven. Visiting the sick, feeding the hungry, helping the homeless and the list goes on and on. All the while taking care of his wife, Bessie. Visiting her daily in the nursing home, keeping up with her doctor appointments and dealing with his own health issues.

Evangelist Andrew Hamilton was a true solider of the cross who will truly be missed by ALL!
