Amos Clark, affectionately known as “Boogie Jo,” was widely known for his incredible dancing skills and love for music. A gifted and joyful dancer, Amos could light up any room with his moves, rhythm, and energy. His talent on the dance floor earned him the nickname “Boogie Jo,” a name family and friends lovingly called him for years.
Born on March 22, 1960, to the late Helen E. Clark and Johnny Brown, Amos began his life rooted in faith. As a young child, he was a devoted member of Mount Zion Primitive Baptist Church in Thomasville, Georgia, where his spiritual foundation was nurtured.
Amos attended Thomas County City Schools and graduated from Thomasville High School Class of 1978/1979. Throughout his school years, Amos was well known for his aerobic skills, which he developed and showcased throughout his education. His energy, discipline, and passion for movement set him apart and became a defining part of who he was.
Beyond his talents, Amos was known for his genuine kindness, warm heart, and welcoming spirit. To family and friends, Boogie Jo was truly the life of the party—always bringing laughter, joy, and unforgettable moments wherever he went.
In 2016, Amos moved to Atlanta, Georgia, where he reunited with his high school sweetheart and the love of his life, Linda Ross. While living in Atlanta, he became a faithful member of Bethel Grove CME Church under the leadership of Elder Melvin-Allen Tukes and Pastor Lamar Johnson. On September 3, 2017, Amos and Linda joyfully united in marriage, becoming one in love and faith.
Amos leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Linda Ross Clark of Atlanta, Georgia; his sisters, Annette (Ben) Meeks, Sarita Brown, Vanessa (Gerald) Calhoun, all of Thomasville, Georgia; Fredricka (Ron) White of Tallahassee, Florida, and LaShonda Brown of Atlanta, Georgia. He is also survived by his devoted mother-in-law, Clara Ross.
He also leaves to cherish his memory two uncles, Jody Hall of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and Reverend Jack Brown of Charlotte, North Carolina; two aunts, May Lizzie (Ricky) Bryant of Thomasville, GA and Virginia (Alvin) Chance of St. Petersburg, FL; his sisters-in-law, Kathy (Ben) Brown, Sabrina (Jimmy) Macklin, and Destiny Davis, all of Thomasville, Georgia, and Regina Ross Lambert of Baconton, Georgia.
Amos was a loving stepfather to six stepchildren: Paris Lenton of Atlanta, Georgia; Janada (Jason) Harris of Tampa, Florida; Brandon (Whitney) Adams of Atlanta, Georgia; Linda-Claire Mills of Atlanta, Georgia; Daryl Daniels of Tallahassee, Florida; and Dale Daniels, Jr. of Tallahassee, Florida. He was also blessed with 12 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren, along with a host of nieces and nephews, including great-nieces and great-nephews.
Among them all, Amos held a special place in his heart for his beloved nieces and nephews, Ken (Nicky) Meeks, Ben (Patricia) Meeks, Jr., Candice (Magic) Meeks, and Danisha (Dasia) Jones. He also cherished three grandchildren beyond measure—Jacory Head, Nadia Dewberry, and Raymon Davis—for whom he would have given the world without hesitation.
Amos was preceded in death by his parents, Helen E. Clark and Johnny Brown; his sister, Lisa Denise Clark Jones; his father-in-law, Ralph Ross, Sr.; and his brothers-in-law, Ralph Ross, Jr., Jimmy Macklin, Jr. and David Jones, Jr. and a dear and longtime friend, Bennie McCastle.
With all the love he shared and the joy he spread, Amos “Boogie Jo” Clark will be missed beyond words. His legacy of movement, music, laughter, love, and kindness will live on through all who were blessed to know him. He was loved by many—and that is how he will forever be remembered.
