Albert Rich, Jr., a free-spirited soul who joyfully marched to the beat of his own drum, transitioned peacefully on August 6, 2026, at the vibrant age of 73. Born on December 3,1952, in Coolidge, Georgia, Albert was the fifth child of the late Albert Rich, Sr. and Rosa Lee Rackley Rich Willis.
He was a 1971 Thomas County School system graduate. From his early days as a standout student-athlete in the Thomas County School System, to his spiritual foundation at Silver Hill Missionary Baptist Church, Albert approached life with an unmistakable energy and an independent heart.
He proudly served his country as a helicopter mechanic in the Vietnam War, which sparked a lifelong, passionate hobby of tinkering with old cars. Upon returning home, Albert fully embraced a life guided by a relentless curiosity. He loved expanding his horizons, pursuing diverse passions and educational interests at Atlanta Technical College, FAMU, and various other local and virtual institutions.
His legacy of adventure, laughter, and individuality lives on through his devoted family. He is survived by his beloved daughter, Meshel Madison (Donny) Brown of Roswell, GA; three treasured grandchildren, Isaiah Madison, Kathryn Madison, and Frederick Daniels III; and two adored great-grandchildren, Jewel Harris and Cyrus Shuler. He is also survived by his loving siblings, Marjorie Rich of Basking Ridge, NJ, Dr. Mary (Ronald) Scruggs of Thomasville, GA, and Mott Willis, Jr. of Coolidge, GA; a special cousin, Jimmy Rackley of Atlanta, GA; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and beloved friends who will forever celebrate his memory.
Welcoming him into eternal rest are his parents, a brother, Jack Rackley, and a sister, Christine Rich, who preceded him in death. Albert’s life was a masterclass in living authentically, on his own terms. He will truly be missed, but will always remain in our hearts forever.
